I first served in 1993 as volunteer and events coordinator and eventually director of volunteers at a HIV/AIDS community based organization, then director of volunteer services at a HIV/AIDS residential health care facility (a licensed nursing home), and followed this by serving as assistant director at a local volunteer center. During the next ten years, starting in 2004, I worked on the start-up/launch and coordination of “new and innovative volunteer programs” in healthcare at six local hospitals thanks to grants from the United Hospital Fund. Since the beginning of my career, I’ve been actively involved in professional associations including NYAVA, AVA, GNYADVS, etc. I also have served as a presenter (starting in 2005) and instructor over the years.

We hired him to oversee a new, grant-funded, health coach volunteer program. Other than to introduce him to appropriate staff, he needed little from us to get up and running. He presented the program to a wide range of medical center staff, interviewed prospective volunteers, developed and implemented a training program and documented all activities so when the time came to prepare the interim report, all of the necessary information was readily available!”
